Good stuff: Staff was helpful and friendly. Especially the young Italian front desk clerk. Location excellent.
Bad stuff: My first night's single room.
Overall: I arrived at 5pm, checked in and went to my single room. It was the size of a small storage room or walk-in closet, with a postage stamp size window ( about 10 inches by 10 inches ) I left my bags in my room and went to the front desk to complain. The hotel was full, so there was no way to change my room. There was a step up to the bathroom, a small landing, and a large step down to the bed/closet/desk. When I got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, I fell down the step when I was going back to the bed, twisting my right foot. The shower stall was very small and had a constant drip after I took a shower. ( I had to call to have someone come and try to stop the drip at 12:30 am. The front desk clerk came up and was able to tighten it enough to not keep me awake). I would not book a single at this hotel, if you want value for money, travel with friends and get a triple! My room was changed the second night, I was moved to a double, twice the size and on one level, with a normal size window! The location is excellent. You can use the Glouster Rd or South Kensington tube stop. From Heathrow, take the Piccadilly line right to the Glouster tube stop and walk about 5-7 minutes to the hotel. The breakfast is continental, with a choice of juices, coffee and tea, a choice of cereals, prunes, canned peaches, cheese and toast. If you want the full english breakfast, it is available for 7.50 pounds. I would stick with the free breakfast. The common areas are charming, the bar friendly, nice sofas for lounging. Use of a computer in the lobby ( which I used to check my flight and email) as well as safety deposit boxes, both free of charge. I can only recommend this hotel if you are traveling with someone and get a larger room. As a solo traveler do not book a single, I paid 75 pounds per night and for that kind of money, my first room was totally unacceptable. My second nights room was good for a single, but would be tight for 2 people, however with every complaint I had, the staff was most gracious and accomodating.
